You participate in design and ensure implementation of the Ocean Freight pricing & RFQ/tender management strategy to support the commercial strategy in line with business objectives, corporate guidelines and policies.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for policy and strategy implementation and short-term results (1 year or less)
  • Cost tariff negotiation with carriers and other external providers
  • Manage OFR pricing processes and activities for RFQ’s, pricing offers and spot quotes. Ensure timely, efficient and globally competitive RFQ responses
  • Guide countries on pricing and RFQ activities and monitor timely and accurate updating of local tariff
  • Ensure the development and implementation of prices for various ocean freight customers
  • Oversee RFQ development and clearly communicate guidelines for development of RFQs, particularly for high priority RFQs provide detailed guidance and for critical RFQs conduct launch calls
  • Ensure, that customer and ocean requirements and service, cost and budgetary guidelines are met
  • Tariff maintenance (MTS) with specific information to enable quick responses to specific network queries
  • Build and secure business relationships with customers and shipping lines
  • Ensure the preparation of carrier performance reports and reviews
  • Periodically review processes and systems to enhance service quality and alignment with company’s direction and long-term goals
  • Scan alternatives to enhance services and processes to secure cost-effective and competitive prices and negotiate competitive rates with shipping lines while meeting desired service specifications and transit time targets
  • Study issues, determine opportunities and introduce best practices for OFR pricing focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency
  • Oversee recent developments of new solutions, services, lane and traffic development
  • Analyze complex issues, benchmark, identify opportunities and introduce best practices for OFR pricing focusing on increasing effectiveness and efficiency
  • Enhance pricing automation
  • People management : organize regulary team meetings, conduct the yearly evaluation, follow up of EOS actions (Employee Opinion Survey), coaching & development of your team members

Your profile

  • Problem solving
  • Strong procurement and negotiation skills
  • Excellent customer interaction
  • People management : coach & develop your team members
  • Experience in Ocean Freight is a must
  • Fluent in Dutch & English, French good knowledge
